The DNA Repair Genomics Lab

We study the short and long-term consequences of DNA-damaging agents, including sun irradiation, cigarette smoke, and chemotherapy, on the structure and function of the human genome.

Research

Our research focuses on understanding the effects of DNA damage and repair on the genome and cellular state. Specifically, we investigate lesions that distort the helical structure of DNA and are repaired by Nucleotide Excision Repair (NER). Using human cell line models, we employ several genomic-based methods to study DNA damage and repair at single-base resolution. By investigating these processes, we aim to uncover new insights into genome integrity and its implications for genetic diseases and cancer development.
